Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz by L. Frank Baum

When Dorothy recovered her senses they were still falling, but not so fast. The top of the buggy caught the air like a parachute or an umbrella filled with wind, and held them back so that they floated downward with a gentle motion that was not so very disagreeable to bear. The worst thing was their terror of reaching the bottom of this great crack in the earth, and the natural fear that sudden death was about to overtake them at any moment.

The story begins with Dorothy, her dog Toto, and her friends the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion, traveling across the Kansas prairie when an earthquake suddenly strikes. The earthquake transports them, along with Dorothy’s new companions, to the land of the Fierce Dragons, an uncharted area that lies beyond the land of Oz. However, they quickly find themselves trapped underground in an eerie subterranean world where an evil sorcerer named the Wizard is their only hope for rescue.

After a terrifying confrontation with the Fierce Dragons, the group ultimately escapes the underground cavern with help from the Wizard, who leads them to the wonderful Emerald City.

Baum's whimsical storytelling leads to a new adventure as they uncover hidden secrets about the land of Oz, and they start encountering the strange inhabitants known as the "Singing Trolls" that arise before
