Icebound by Owen Gould Davis

"Scene: The parlor of the Jordan Homestead at Venzie, Maine. It looks like Icebound by Owen Gould Davis isn't widely known. However, there is a play titled Icebound by Owen Davis (sometimes referred to without his middle name), which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1923.

The play is a drama about the Jordan family in rural Maine, who are waiting for their wealthy matriarch’s death to claim their inheritance. The central conflict arises when a black sheep of the family, Ben Jordan, is unexpectedly named the heir, leading to tension, greed, and moral dilemmas. The story explores themes of redemption, duty, and the contrast between selfishness and genuine integrity.
