Red is the blood of the elite, of magic, of control.
Blue is the blood of the poor, of workers, of the resistance.
Clear is the blood of the slaves, of the crushed, of the invisible.
The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi is a debut fantasy novel and the first book in "The Ending Fire" trilogy. The story is set in a world divided by blood, where society is stratified into three distinct classes based on the color of one's blood: red, blue, and clear.
The protagonist, Sylah, is a member of the elite red-blooded class known as the Embers, who rule over the land with an iron fist. However, Sylah was raised by rebels who sought to overthrow the oppressive regime. After the rebels are brutally crushed, Sylah struggles with addiction and a sense of purposelessness until she is drawn back into the fight for justice.
The novel features multiple perspectives, including that of Anoor, a privileged Ember who harbors secrets of her own, and Hassa, a blue-blooded Duster who is part of the oppressed underclass. Together, these characters become embroiled in a deadly competition that will determine the fate of their world.
